Sheer tops, spandex leggings, open back and low cut dresses--these are the fun puzzles we have to riddle out when choosing our underwear! With the right undergarments, though, you can wave goodbye to any worries about panty lines, exposed bra straps, and wrinkled shaping. There are 5 simple items that every woman should have ready in her wardrobe that will make her feel more confident and comfortable in her clothes.
Certain scents can instantly transport us to another place and time; that’s why having the right perfume can be so empowering. As women we can play with different fragrances to make us feel more confident, energized, sexy, or relaxed. As Christian Dior says “A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting,” so I’ll help you find your signature scent to show the world.
Put on a new spin on a traditional fajita with my Black Bean Chicken “Fajitas” recipe. The trick is I swap out the customary flour tortilla for moo shu wrappers and other special ingredients. Also called moo shu pancakes, this delicious Cantonese staple is in most grocer’s freezer section, at the local oriental market, or you can make some from scratch easily.
We’re halfway through the first month of 2015 but many of us still have items in our closet that haven’t seen the light of day in years. They're the looks that we love in theory and don’t actually wear, but they keep our closet so full we feel guilty to buy what we do need. This year, it’s time to do away with what isn’t working and shop smart on new pieces that we’ll love. For inspiration on how to replace old pieces with new looks you’ll love to wear, check out mine and HSN Fashion Expert Dree Harper’s fashion resolutions!
Winter winds and summer showers do very different things to our skin, so it’s no surprise that depending on the time of year we need to be ready to adjust our skin-care routines. Changing a few base products for moisture, SPF, exfoliation, and cleansing, will do wonders to keep your skin soft and glowing year round. The weather can be unpredictable but your skin doesn’t have to be.
We’ve all got our guilty pleasures after a dedicated day at work, maybe it’s that extra chocolate chip cookie for dessert or maybe it’s sidling up to a toasty electric heater? This past week on the Monday Night Show I got the not-so-cold, hard truth about those addicted to portable heaters!
Some credit cards give you rewards, and then some credit cards give you VIP experiences where celebrity chefs personally answer your cooking questions and prepare for you their signature dishes! Hmm I wonder which I’d prefer?? Last November, we invited HSN card holders to our bi-annual HSN Cooks event where four of our celebrity chefs teamed up to do live cooking demos and feed some hungry fans. At this last Cooks event VIP cardholders got to rub spoons and forks with Donatella Arpaia, Robert Irvine, Ming Tsai, and Lorena Garcia, getting a glimpse into their kitchen routines.
Phew! What a week! I've been coming to CES for years, and this is hands down some of the most fun I've ever had here. I've been exploring the CES show floor with David, HSN's go-to guy for everything electronics, and we've seen all kinds of cool stuff.
At HSN I love to share my favorite fashions with our fans but I also know what’s on the inside is important. Good health is the basis for success in achieving all of our goals so I’m really glad I have our old friend Andrew Lessman to help make it my starting point for 2015. Andrew’s new digital vitamin experience lets me look up what supplements are going to revitalize my health with an easy to navigate vitamin index. Think of it as Google meets WebMD of the vitamin world. Users can search by ingredient, symptom, or body part to find a supplement that will meet their unique needs
Did you know that HSN first started with showcasing can openers over the radio? Little things can lead to great experiences, just like with our Arcade sweepstakes! Every year we get to give away beauty, fashion, and home goodies for FREE to our loyal customers. This past December one of our customers, Kathleen Andrews, won an all-expenses-paid trip to visit our HSN home in St. Petersburg, Florida!
CES 2015 is here! Referred to as the 'tech lover's dream conference, the Consumer Electronics Show is every geek's favorite time of the year – and we just finished taking in all of day one's tech goodness here in Las Vegas. Over the years, CES has introduced and showcased some of the most game-changing technology, from the VCR (1970) to the XBox (2001). This year, it's all about the connected home, wearables and more. Here are some of my favorite trends so far from CES 2015!
‘My hair does those perfect waves naturally!’ or ‘My skin tone is so balanced I don’t even need make up!,’ said...no woman ever. Ladies, it’s no secret that when we wake up in the morning our natural look is a little less than red-carpet perfection. That doesn’t mean that with the right products we can’t achieve that seemingly effortless look. All the women I know have that one product they swear by to fix the signs of a late night, or to add an extra touch for special occasions. For my 2015 resolution to help more women feel glamorous in their own skin, I’d like to share five of my favorite beauty secret weapons that can be used daily, or for when in a bind.
April’s showers bring May’s flowers, but in the chilly month of January I’m thinking more about how winter’s weather brings cute sweaters! Spring isn’t the only time of year I can refresh my wardrobe as winter is the season to don more pieces than usual and create unique textures through layering. One thing I’ve learned about layering is that there is a line between looking cozy and cool or clunky and crazy. To keep warm this winter and look stylish while doing it, here are a few of my favorite fashions that you can rotate through your looks, and how to assemble multiple pieces without feeling bulky.
Facial contouring has been a makeup artist’s best friend for years, used to highlight the natural beauty of any face by emphasizing depth and contrast. For some makeup aficionados though, contouring can be like going to battle--one with stripes of foundation war paint instead of the glamorous highlights that are possible. The snag that some ladies may be hitting is that they aren’t properly contouring for their specific face shape.
Being beautiful is about radiating confidence and feeling at home in your own skin. This 2015 one of my resolutions is to help more people build up their beauty essentials even on a budget to feel truly beautiful. The new year is the perfect time to clean out your old beauty supplies and start to build your basics, introduce a new shade of lipstick, or finally learn to style your hair like the pros! Beauty and hair tools deserve the same attention that we give to our closets and jewelry box, as better products are introduced and as our needs change to fit the seasons of our lives. Here are a few of my favorite beauty products that are under $50 and make me feel money-smart and pretty at the same time, a knock-out New Year’s resolution combo.
It’s New Year’s Eve and my hopes are high for the wonderful year ahead! Lucky for me my job lets me see all the latest fashions, beauty products, and accessories so when it comes time for a party I’ve got some expert brands to turn to. If you need some last minute inspiration for an NYE party outfit, a make-up style that will last well past midnight, or what healthy drink to toast with, check out my NYE guide below. I’ll let you see a glimpse into my closet for some party outfits, how I’ll style it up with jewelry and accessories, and how I plan to go glam with some new hairstyles. I also happen to be the hostess of a party this year so you’ll get to see some recipes ready for my table before the stroke of midnight!
Comfort foods—meat and potatoes, salty and sweet—we all crave them and with my Chicken Tenders and Sweet Potato Fries recipe you can have your fill of flavor! This is a quick, dinner recipe that can be prepped ahead of time and that will cook in less than 20 minutes which is perfect for busy moms or last minute party plans. My halogen oven is key for getting a good crisp on the chicken without having to deep fry every piece, and another trick is to spray the tenders with a non-stick spray after coating to keep the breading intact. Your family, friends, and stomach will thank you for upgrading chicken tender night into a culinary event.
During the holidays there are a lot of tasty foods being served, but there is also a lot of pressure on the cook’s plate to execute those dishes. Juggling appetizers, a roast, home-made rolls, a few different sides, and dessert can be a marathon cooking experience. Even the best chefs, professional or not, will run into a few kitchen blunders while cooking.Realizing you’ve made a mistake on a dish when it’s an hour away from dinner time doesn’t have to cue the alarms or a mad dash to the grocery store. There are a few tricks that can remedy some of the most common mistakes we all make from time to time, and you will already have most of the tools or alternative ingredients you’ll need at home.
Reinventing salads with fruits, nuts, and different greens has become really popular, but a lot of people are still unsure of what to do when it comes to the dressing. Home-made dressings are so easy to make and give you a lot of freedom to play with ingredients to suit your own tastes for a tangier or creamier dressing. Using my salad dressing mixer you can create a larger batch to store in the fridge for the entire week or before a special meal that will really wow your guests. Champagne vinegar adds a delicious hint of sweetness to this recipe that balances well with the sharpness of mustard, and the depth of walnut oil. If you don’t have fresh herbs on hand, dried will do, but remember fresher=more flavor in your dressing!
There’s something about baked apples that truly announces the arrival of the holidays. My Apple Crisp recipe is a simple dish that lets the apples do the talking, and keeps me from doing any because my mouth is full! But truly this dessert is one that warms my appetite during winter and is also fun to tweak for the brighter summer months. This recipe will make your house smell like a cinnamon-sugar dream and have your neighbors begging for a bite. Topped off with a scoop of ice cream, this can be a great holidays’ potluck piece.
Well it's that time of year once more where we all get together with family and friends for the Holidays. This year seems like it's literally flown by, faster than most it seems. I want to thank everyone who has made this, once again, a very successful year for my very large extended family. The Mine Finds show had its best year ever and we owe so much too all the fans and viewers who have supported our art once again. I've been out of the country since the ...

My Strawberry Raspberry smoothie will have you seeing red as in red raspberries, red apples, and red strawberries to be exact. Full of sweet fruit and omega-rich flax seed, drinking this smoothie will feel more like a dessert than a healthy snack. The great thing about including apples in this recipe is that the extra fiber will help keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer so your focus to finish holiday shopping and get the perfect gift for everyone on you list won’t be derailed by hunger.
